NAME: Kathryn Lee (professionally "Kat")

Hi there! I'm Kat, goofball at heart and storyteller by trade. Above all, I value kindness (to oneself & others), on and off the stage. Theatre is meant to validate, challenge, and unite us; noble pursuits that should be treated with generosity, humility & joy. Let's play.

BACKGROUND: grew up in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio; proudly autistic/adhd! (and still learning the best ways to communicate accommodations)

VALUES: kindness, leading with a generous heart, making theatre more inclusive & accessible for all people ᵔᴗᵔ

HOBBIES: reading, photography, keeping magic alive

"DREAMGIRLS" at Short North Stage

as Lorrell Robinson

"Kat Lee’s Lorrell is delightful and heartbreaking through her falling in and out of love with Jimmy and her voice elevates everything she appears on."

Columbus Underground

“Kat Lee earns sympathy as the third Dream singer Lorrell Robinson, who loves Jimmy too much.”

- Columbus Dispatch

“The great thing about this cast is each one of the performers could hold their own on the stage. The Dreamettes each get their moment in the spotlight.”

- Broadway World

"BIG FISH" at Otterbein University

as The Witch

"… highlights include the swamp witch meeting, ‘I Know What You Want’ (with a ferocious vocal from Kat Lee) …"

"EVERY BRILLIANT THING" at The Utah Shakespeare Festival

as The Narrator

"I believe this production will save lives."

- LT. GOVERNOR SPENCER J. COX

"This warm and often-humorous play celebrates and cultivates the use of proactive, life-affirming communication when you or those you love are confronted with depression... Two separate touring companies will crisscross the state from October 2019 to February 2020. They will present more than 150 school performances and 10 public performances, reaching over 75,000 students."

"SILENT SKY" at The Utah Shakespeare Festival

as Margaret Leavitt

"Kat Lee’s Margaret Leavitt serves as an excellent contrast, bringing humor and frustration underpinned by sisterly love. Lee also sings “For the Beauty of the Earth” as a recurring theme throughout the play and does a beautiful job."

- Rhetorical Review

"Kat Lee portrays Margaret Leavitt as a foil to Henrietta, bringing out the spunk and humor and frustration of the character with an unmistakable base layer of loving concern for her sister. Lee’s comedic timing is excellent."

- Front Row Reviewers

"INTO THE BREECHES" at Lyric Repertory Company

as Ida Green

"Lee’s interpretation of Hotspur’s death speech from Henry IV, Part 1 is pure magic."

- Cache Valley Daily

"FENCES" at Lyric Repertory Company

as Rose Maxson

"As Troy’s wife Rose, understudy Kat Lee stepped up to that role on opening night and her performance as the put-upon spouse was rock solid. Even when she was forced to rely on Fences’ script in the Second Act, her portrayal was still searingly honest when she talked about planting a seed in her husband’s “hard and rocky” soul that will never bloom due to his infidelity."

- Cache Valley Daily

(3 performances - opening weekend)

"CLUE" at The Oregon Cabaret Theatre

as Yvette

"Newcomer Kat Lee strikes all the right notes as Yvette, the French Maid."
